Massey’s Dearly Departed

Feds Say Massey Fabricated Safety Reports at Upper Big Branch

When you decide to be something, you can be it. That's what they don't tell you in the church. When I was your age they would say we can become cops, or criminals. Today, what I'm saying to you is this: when you're facing a loaded gun, what's the difference?

Coal Tattoo: Massey's Blankenship to Plead the 5th in Mining Disaster Probe

Retiring CEO Opts Not to Incriminate Self
Don Blankenship is going to plead the 5th in the Upper Big Branch probe. Seems that Big Don is invoking his right to avoid self-incrimination. I'm pretty shocked and awed by this bit of information. I guess all those times I called Blankenship a "homicidal maniac," his lawyers didn't disagree.

Banner Saying "Stop Putting Profits Over People" Deployed in Meeting
Activists disrupted the annual general meeting of criminal corporation Massey Energy this morning in Richmond, VA. Two of the group were arrested as they demanded an end to Massey’s reckless disregard for human life, community health, and the environment.

As shareholders entered their meeting in the main ballroom of the sheik Jefferson Hotel, activists occupied the adjacent rotunda, chanting loudly and draping a massive banner over the ornate mezzanine railings. The 10’ x 10’ hand-painted banner read, “Massey – Stop Putting Profits Over People!”

Two Anti-MTR Non-Violent Activists in West Virginia Held on $100,000 bail each

Activists Given Outrageous Bails While Criminal CEO Blankenship Walks Free
It’s pretty outrageous that a criminal thug like Massey CEO Don Blankenship walks around free (going to the Massey Shareholder’s Meeting tomorrow,) while two non-violent anti-MTR activists are held on $100,000 bail each. I think it and say it over and over, but the criminal justice system there is so corrupted by Big Coal is just makes me sick at heart.
